How to Hang Wall Decor Safely: Mirrors, Frames & Clocks
Mirrors, frames, and clocks aren't light — a little planning before you drill keeps them safe on the wall (and off the floor).
1. Check the Weight First
Every product on our store lists its weight. As a rule: under 2 kg can use a quality picture hook; 2–5 kg needs a wall anchor or two hooks; anything above 5 kg (large mirrors, window-pane sets) deserves toggle bolts or masonry anchors.
2. Choose the Right Fixing for Your Wall
Drywall: use plastic anchors or toggle bolts, never a nail. Brick or concrete: drill with a masonry bit and use masonry anchors. Plaster: drill slowly with low impact to avoid cracking, then use an anchor rated for plaster.
3. Measure and Mark Like a Pro
Use a tape measure and a spirit level. Mark the exact hook position with a pencil, keeping in mind where the hanging wire or bracket sits on the back of the piece — the hook point is rarely at the center of the frame.
4. Two Hooks for Heavy Pieces
For mirrors and large clocks, install two hooks spaced apart. It stops the piece from tilting, keeps it level, and shares the load — the single most important habit for hanging heavy decor.
5. Hang at the Right Height
Center large pieces at eye level (~150 cm from the floor). Above a sofa or bed, keep 20–30 cm of clearance so the piece reads as part of the furniture, not separate from it.

How much weight can a wall anchor hold?
Plastic anchors typically hold 5–10 kg in drywall; toggle bolts hold 15–25 kg; and masonry anchors handle 10–20 kg in brick or concrete. For anything over 3 kg, never rely on a nail alone.
What height should I hang a mirror or frame?
Center the piece at around 145–155 cm from the floor (eye level). For pieces above sofas or beds, leave 20–30 cm of clearance between the furniture and the bottom of the decor.
Do heavy mirrors need two hanging points?
Yes. Use two hooks spaced at least a third of the mirror's width apart — it stops the piece from shifting and keeps it level over time.
